One out of every three women in the world will be physically or sexually abused in her lifetime, according to information from the United Nations. In today's climate it is apparent that number may be conservative.

To raise money and awareness to stop violence against women and girls, 18 Luther College students will present three benefit performances of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" Feb. 22-24. Hailed by The New York Times as, "probably the most important piece of political theatre of the last decade," the performances include heartwarming, funny, poignant and at times heartbreaking stories of women across the globe.

All proceeds from the benefit performances are donated to local and national organizations to help end violence against women and girls. Benefits from Luther's 2018 production will be allocated locally to Helping Services of Northeast Iowa and nationally to the V-Day Spotlight Campaign which this year benefits the newly created Frontline Resistors Fund.
